Xu Caihou, former vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, has confessed to taking bribe, said military prosecutors Tuesday.

Military prosecutors have finished investigation to Xu's graft case and started the procedure to file the case, said a statement from the military procuratorate.

Xu was also expelled from the Communist Party of China and discharged from military service with his rank as general revoked.

Xu was found taking the advantage of his position to assist the promotion of other people, accepting huge amount of bribe personally and through his family.

He was also found to have sought profits for others in exchange for bribe taken through his family members. The amount of bribe was "extremely huge", the statement said.
