The representative of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea (ROK) said that the ROK and Chinese militaries held a working meeting in Seoul, capital of the ROK, and this is the first time for the two militaries to hold such a meeting, according to the Voice of Russia.

The two sides extensively discussed the issues including preventing the unexpected events in the overlapped areas of the two countries' respective air defense identification zones (ADIZ), the Voice of Russia reported.

During the meeting, director of the Strategic Planning Department of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Armed Forces of the ROK and director of the Strategic Planning Department of the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) agreed to strengthen the bilateral trust and carry out cooperation between the two militaries, the Voice of Russia mentioned.

The two sides also discussed the direct phone liaison work between the two countries' navies and air forces, and the issue on how to prevent any possible conflict in the overlapped areas of the two countries' ADIZ, according to the Voice of Russia.

The ROK government proclaimed in December 2013 its newly delimited ADIZ line in response to China's ADIZ delimitation, which aimed to strengthen ROK's sovereignty over the Suyan Islet and its neighboring islands in the East China Sea, the Voice of Russia reported.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Armed Forces of the ROK said that according to the meeting, the representatives of the two sides agreed to hold meetings on a regular basis, the Voice of Russia added.
