A five-member team from the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship Peace Ark on "Mission Harmony-2014" on Monday paid a courtesy call to Fijian government agencies to familiarize themselves with the work carried out there.

The delegation, led by Real Admiral Shen Hao, the mission commander of "Mission Harmony-2014", visited the Fijian military's Naval Base and followed a courtesy call to Suva's Special Administrator Chandu Umaria.

The team also met with Fiji's Minister for Health Dr. Neil Sharma and later with the Commander of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Mosese Tikoitoga.

Sharma said Fijians should take advantage of the free services offered by the medical team onboard Peace Ark.

While the medical team was offering health services onboard the vessel, they also visited health centers and assisted Fijian medical personnel.

Peace Ark arrived at Suva last Friday, starting treating Fijian patients for free. The humanitarian medical mission lasts for one week in the South Pacific island country.

Fiji is the second stop of "Mission Harmony-2014", which has just seen the diagnosing and treatment of over 4,000 patients in Tonga. Peace Ark is expected to visit Vanuatu as well as Papua New Guinea after completing the medical mission in Fiji.

With a full-load displacement of 14,220 tonnes, Peace Ark, commissioned in 2008, is equipped with some 300 beds, eight operating rooms, and over 200 types of medical devices including CT, color ultrasonic, automatic biochemistry analyzer, etc.
