Foreign forces of 'Peace Mission -2014' in position

All troop units of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan participating in the "Peace Mission - 2014" joint anti-terrorism military exercise (hereinafter referred to as the exercise) of the armed forces of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states are in position by around 20:00 on August 17, 2014.

It took six days for the foreign troops to participate in the exercise to arrive at the drill area from nine entry points including Ala Mountain Pass, Irkeshtan and Manzhouli.

The foreign participating troops consist of a total of 2,200 people, covering such services and arms as infantry, aviation force, army aviation force, airborne troops as well as special operation force.

Fighters, transport aircraft, helicopters, multi-type tanks, infantry combat vehicles, armored vehicles and artilleries of foreign troops will participate in the exercise. Meanwhile, main battle equipment such as Su-25 aircraft, Su-27 aircraft and T-72 main battle tank will also be put into the exercise.

Before the exercise, the Chinese and foreign troops will hold three joint actual-troop training sessions.

The "Peace Mission-2014" joint anti-terrorism military exercise will take place on August 24 at the Zhurihe training base located in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The exercise will be divided into two phases: the campaign preparation from Aug 24 to Aug 28 and the campaign implementation on Aug 29.

It is learnt that chiefs of the general staff of the SCO member states will observe and guide the exercise at the Zhurihe training base.
