An open day event was held on the guided missile frigate "Quanzhou", a new type of frigate of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), at a naval port in Xiamen on August 10, 2014, attracting over 200 citizens, students and representatives of families of officers and men to visit the frigate.

Liu Nianhua, a sophomore from the department of aeronautics of the Xiamen University, said that he is a super military fan and could only learn about the development of the Chinese naval ships and equipment on TV and the Internet without any actual access to a real naval vessel. He noted that this visit to a real warship made him more confident in the development of the Chinese naval equipment.

Li Qingyin, captain of guided missile frigate "Quanzhou", introduced that they assigned docents in key positions of "Quanzhou" to explain the weapon and equipment performance to the citizens and answer their questions, and they prepared brochures and other materials to introduce information about naval equipment and frigate etiquette. The event was very popular with the citizens.
