New frigate 'Quanzhou' commissioned to PLA Navy

The commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony for the guided missile frigate "Quanzhou" warship, a new type of frigate of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), was held solemnly at a naval port in Xiamen city, east China's Fujian province, on the morning of August 8, 2014, marking that the warship is officially commissioned to the PLAN.

The "Quanzhou" warship, independently developed, designed and constructed by China, is equipped with a variety of weapons and equipment, and is featured by good stealth performance, strong compatibility, and a wide range of applications of advanced technologies.

After commissioned to the PLAN, the warship will perform such missions as patrolling, alert, fishery protection, escort, antisubmarine operation and anti-surface operation.
