Chinese naval taskforce to visit San Diego

The taskforce of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army which has just finished the RIMPAC 2014 multinational military exercise steered out of the Pearl Harbor and headed for San Diego of the US for a friendly visit at 13:00 of August 4, 2014, local time.

The visiting naval taskforce is made up of the guided missile destroyer "Haikou", the guided missile frigate "Yueyang" and the comprehensive supply ship "Qiandaohu", carrying one helicopter and more than 700 servicemen onboard.

The Chinese and the US navies will conduct extensive and in-depth exchanges during the visit, according to Shen Jinlong, commander of the taskforce and commandant of the PLA Navy Command College.

Meanwhile, Shen Jinlong will meet with the commander of the United States Third Fleet, the commander of the US Navy Region Southwest and the civilian leaders of San Diego city. The taskforce will also hold deck reception, sports competitions, etc.
