PLA issues new armament administration regulation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has signed on the newly-amended Armament Administration Regulation of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), which will take effect on Dec. 1.

The enforcement of the new regulation is an important move to improve the PLA's management of its weapons and supplies with the aim of winning a regional war in the era of information, according to a Wednesday statement from the Central Military Commission (CMC), which is also headed by Xi.

The new regulation has taken into consideration new developments and challenges in armament management and amended items concerning combat readiness of armament, training and information management, according to the statement.

The regulation was first signed by then president Jiang Zemin and enacted in 2003, defining the role, tasks and basic principles of the PLA's armament.

The CMC urged all PLA and armed police units to strictly implement the new regulation and improve their armament administration level.
