Deceased nuclear test expert conferred honorary title

The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting to posthumously confer the honorary title of "an outstanding scientist dedicated to national defense science and technology" on Comrade Lin Junde on February 18, 2013 at a test and training base of the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

During the meeting, an order signed by Xi Jinping, chairman of the CMC, was read, and Huang Jianqin, wife of Comrade Lin Junde, was issued with a first-class hero-and-model medal and a certificate posthumously awarded to Lin Junde.

Comrade Lin Junde, who died of illness at the age of 75 on May 31, 2012, was a famous expert in explosion mechanics and nuclear test engineering, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and researcher of a test and training base of the GAD of the PLA.

Comrade Lin Junde dedicated himself to China's national defense science and technology for 52 years, during which he participated in all the nuclear tests of China and made outstanding contributions to the national defense science and technology.

Wu Changde, deputy director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA, and Wang Hongyao, political commissar of the GAD of the PLA, attended the meeting and met with family members and relatives of Comrade Lin Junde.
