PLA Navy holds systematic ordnance support contest

The ordnance support capability appraisal and combat readiness turn-to-action contest of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was recently wrapped up.

According to Gao Yunhai, chief of the Ordnance Support Division of the Armaments Department of the PLA Navy, the equipment for this contest covered five main arms of the PLA Navy, namely surface ships, submarines, aviation force, marine corps and coastal defense force. The organizations participating in the contest included not only various ordnance technical support groups and rear depots, but also coastal missile, marine and coastal defense troop units. The ordnance support capability appraisal and combat readiness turn-to-action contest achieved an overall forward-leap in ordnance support capability for systematic operations based on the information system.

The troop units participating in the contest swiftly and orderly carried out various tasks upon receipt of combat support tasks, such as setting up command posts and making action plans. The professional personnel of various specialties conducted fierce competition on subjects including equipment ex-depot, upload and transportation, handover and acceptance, ammunition loading, emergency repair as well as metering and chemical testing.

According to the briefing, the PLA naval ordnance system has set up an equipment management and support system in accordance with its operational command system in recent years with a "comprehensive, mobile, rapid, precise and high-efficient" ordnance capability.
