PLA Hong Kong Garrison commander changed

Hu Jintao, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), recently signed an order to appoint Lieutenant General Wang Xiaojun, deputy commander of the Shenyang Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), as commander of the Hong Kong Garrison of the PLA, and Lieutenant General Zhang Shibo, commander of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, as commander of the Beijing MAC of the PLA, announced by Colonel Zhao Dong, spokesman of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, on October 26, 2012.

Lieutenant General Xu Fenlin, commander of the Guangzhou MAC of the PLA, recently announced this appointment in the PLA Hong Kong Garrison. Accompanied by Major General Yue Shixin, political commissar of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, Xu Fenlin led Zhang Shibo and Wang Xiaojun to visit Leung Chun-ying, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on October 26.

Xu Fenlin briefed Leung Chun-ying on the adjustment of the commander of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison. Leung Chun-ying expressed his congratulations to Zhang Shibo on his assuming of the new position and also extended his welcome to Wang Xiaojun for his arrival.
