The armed forces of China and the US will hold a joint drill on humanitarian rescue and disaster relief in late November in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, Yang Yujun, spokesman of the defense ministry, said on Thursday.

The two countries' defense departments and armed forces are planning a series of exchange activities before the end of the year, Yang added.

According to Yang, US Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, and a US military medical delegation will visit China. Senior officers from the People's Liberation Army and a navy delegation will also visit the US for workshops.

Yang also dismissed as untrue media reports that the military was planning to test launch an anti-satellite missile in November.

Reports said that China will conduct the test that targets satellites in high orbit, such as reconnaissance satellites and navigation satellites, after the US presidential election next month.
