PLA Navy commander visits Turkey

Upon invitation of Admiral E. Murat Bilgel, commander of the Turkish Navy, Admiral Wu Shengli, member of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China and commander of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), departed on September 3 from Beijing, capital of China, to start his official goodwill visit to Turkey.

During his stay in Turkey, Wu Shengli will meet with leaders of the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish Navy, visit military institutions including troop units and academies of the Turkish Navy and have an in-depth exchange of ideas with the senior Turkish military officials on carrying pragmatic communication and cooperation in the fields of exchange of warship visits, cooperation between Chinese and Turkish naval ships in fulfilling escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and waters off the Somali coast as well as exchange of military academies between the two navies.
