PLA, APF assistance projects in Yushu completed

The completion and handover ceremony of the Bayi Orphans' School, the Bayi Vocational-Technical School and the Bayi Hospital in Yushu constructed by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) was held on the morning of August 22, 2012 in Yushu of west China's Qinghai province. Leaders from the General Staff Headquarters (GSH), the General Political Department (GPD), the General Logistics Department (GLD) and the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the PLA as well as leaders of the Qinghai Province and Yushu Prefecture were present at the ceremony.

The foundation-laying work of above three projects, with a land area totaling 249.79 mu (16.65 hectares) and a construction area totaling 98,700 square meters, started on August 27, 2010. The Lanzhou MAC of the PLA was mainly in charge of the construction work of the three projects.

The Bayi Orphans' School sets up 18 classes, which can accommodate 810 students at the same time; the Bayi Vocational- Technical School is a boarding school for 4,000 students and a faculty of 250 in the school; and the Bayi Hospital has 200 beds and is equipped with advanced medical equipment such as NMR, CT and DR, etc. All the main parts of the schools and the hospital adopt the frame structure capable of resisting up to 8-magnitude earthquakes.
