The "Zheng He" oceangoing training ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), which was on the "Harmonious mission – the 'Zheng He' oceangoing training ship's voyage around the world", arrived in Nuku'alofa, the capital of the Kingdom of Tonga, on the morning of August 11, 2012 for a four-day-long friendly visit.

The "Zheng He" ship slowly berthed at the No. 1 berth of the Queen Salote Wharf at 16:00, local time. Wang Donghua, Chinese ambassador to Tonga, representatives of overseas Chinese and China-funded institutions, Commander Fifita, commander of the Tongan Navy, representatives of officers and men of the Tongan Navy and others came to the wharf to greet the ship.

At the welcome ceremony held by the Tongan side for the "Zheng He" ship, Fifita extended his warm welcome to the "Zheng He" ship for its visit on behalf of the Tongan Defense Forces and the Tongan Navy.

This is the second time for the Chinese naval ships including the "Zheng He" ship to visit Nuku'alofa. Before this visit, the Chinese naval ship formation consisting of the "Zheng He" ship and the "Mianyang" ship visited Nuku'alofa in September 2010.
