Senior military official Guo Boxiong on Thursday met with Russian Deputy Prime Minster Dmitry Rogozin in Beijing, vowing to further deepen political trust and advance strategic partnerships.

Guo, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, said China and Russia are important strategic partners.

Bilateral relations have maintained sound development, and have greatly promoted global and regional peace and stability, he said.

Though the international situation is complicated and volatile, China is willing to work with Russia to deepen strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation, in an effort to boost bilateral strategic partnerships and jointly safeguard world peace and stability, he said.

Rogozin praised the remarkable achievements made in bilateral cooperation in recent years, noting that Russia will make joint efforts with China to deepen bilateral ties.

Chinese and Russian warships concluded a live ammunition exercise on Thursday, following a no-weapon joint war game earlier the same day.

The conclusion of the drill marks the end of the live sea exercise of the April 22-27 naval exercise between Russia and China, which is the seventh between Russian and Chinese armed forces since 2003.
