Could I fit into the team? Would language be a barrier? Would I be treated as an “outsider”? Laura still vaguely remembers the nervousness she felt when she joined a Chinese company in Dubai.

Yet her worries were soon dispelled by the warmth, patience, and inclusiveness of her Chinese colleagues.

Outside of work, she taught them the traditional Lebanese dance Dabke, while her colleagues invited her to make dumplings, write Spring Festival couplets, and play table tennis, which gradually became her favorite leisure activity.

In her eyes, Chinese modernization represents a strength, a warmth, and the shared human values that shine through cross-cultural exchanges.
