In an exclusive interview with China News Network at the China Pavilion during the COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Andrea Mjuma, Chief Economist at Malawi’s Ministry of Finance & Economic Planning, noted that the world is facing floods, droughts, and intensifying climate impacts together, while extreme poverty leaves Malawi unable to cope alone.
“China has made success in biodiversity, forest and land restoration,” he said, calling China a trusted partner. He urged the world to tackle climate challenges through cooperation rather than confrontation: “We need to demonstrate that there is strength in cooperation.” (Chen Tianhao)
