Approximately four centuries ago, the Spanish Manila Galleon visited China, marking the beginning of trade and cultural exchange between China and Spain, and serving as an important testament to early Sino-Spanish civilizational interaction, Víctor Cortizo, president of the Hispanic Association of China Studies and professor at Francisco de Vitoria University, told China News Network in a recent exclusive interview.

Cortizo noted that Spain and China share many common values, and dialogue between the two civilizations has strengthened bilateral relations. In recent years, interest in China Studies has risen in Spain, with not only many students learning Chinese but also more experts and scholars conducting in-depth research on the connections between Spanish-speaking countries and China.

Cortizo emphasized that Spain serves as a bridge connecting China, Latin America, and Europe, while China is an important partner for Spain, with broad prospects for investment and industrial cooperation between the two countries. (Gong Weiwei)
