With the China International Fair for Investment and Trade and the China International Fair for Trade in Services held in quick succession, and the UK’s new trade secretary Peter Kyle visiting China to restart the first bilateral trade dialogue in seven years, “international trade” has undoubtedly become a key theme of China this September.

“Looking ahead to China’s outward investment and international economic and technological cooperation, we are full of confidence,” said Fang Qiuchen, chairman of the China International Contractors Association, in a recent interview with China News Network’s W.E. Talk.

Fang noted that the China Outward Direct Investment Index, jointly initiated by the association, shows Chinese enterprises maintain a strong appetite for overseas investment, with priorities gradually shifting from traditional sectors to emerging industries.

He noted that in infrastructure, for instance, new energy sectors represented by photovoltaic cells and electric vehicles are becoming new focal points of investment. At the same time, as Chinese technologies and equipment increasingly go global, China’s culture, standards, and solutions are also gaining greater recognition and attention worldwide.
