(W.E. Talk) Ocean blue, Energy green: China and Portugal light up the future of China–EU ties

Recently, Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro made an official visit to China. In the latest episode of W.E. Talk, Liu Ying, Research Fellow of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China notes that China and Portugal are highly complementary in many fields: Portugal brings rich maritime and blue-economy experience, while China offers a supersized market, complete industrial chains and strong innovation capacity. Their cooperation can advance technological innovation and green transition, boosting modernization for both countries and beyond.

While Secretary General of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bernardo Mendia says the Portuguese Prime Minister’s visit signals continuity and stability in Portuguese-Chinese ties and sets an example for Europe; he highlights green transition and major investments and urges stronger standards, certification and governmental coordination to secure long-term, people-centered win-win cooperation.
