The T3295 train carrying 956 migrant workers departing from Lanzhou, Gansu Province arrived in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on Wednesday. This is the first special train arranged for migrant workers heading to Xinjiang after the Spring Festival break.

Xinjiang Railway ushered in a peak of passenger flow after the festival, as a large number of migrant workers returned to work.

"We've decided to run 30 special trains for migrant workers in Lanzhou, Xi'an and Zhengzhou," said Cao Jiukang, staff member at Urumqi Railway Station, "In view of the concentrated arrival of migrant workers, Urumqi railway station has sent more staff members in key areas including platforms and exits, to guide passengers to leave the station quickly."

"We've also opened transfer channels according to passengers' needs, so as to facilitate migrant workers to transfer to the north and south Xinjiang without leaving the station," Cao added.

The special trains are part of measures to provide better services for workers and facilitate the resumption of production after the Spring Festival break. The travel rush of migrant workers returning to work in Xinjiang is expected to last until mid-March.
