China's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) reserve base was put into operation on Monday, with a LNG carrier unloading the first shipment at Yancheng Green Energy Port of CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) in east China's Jiangsu Province.

The 210,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier from Qatar traveled 6,000 nautical miles and arrived at the port after 16 days.

The Yancheng Green Energy Port of CNOOC is a key planning project for the development of China's natural gas production, supply, storage and marketing system.

It is the largest LNG storage base in China, with 10 large-scale LNG storage tanks built in the first phase with a total tank capacity of 2.5 million cubic meters, including four 220,000-cubic-meter, and six 270,000-cubic-meter storage tanks.
