(ECNS) -- A staff member has found a rarely seen freshwater jellyfish in Suichang Gold Mine National Park in Lishui City, east China's Zhejiang Province.

Freshwater jellyfish, also known as peach blossom jellyfish because of their resemblance to the flower, are regarded as a "giant panda in water," as it lives only in pollution-free fresh water. Having existed on the earth for hundreds of millions or even billions of years, the jellyfish are veritable "living fossils."

"Peach Blossom Jellyfish have been found over 15 years since 2007 in Suichang Gold Mine National Park. This year, it looks particularly large, much larger than that discovered in successive years," said Yang Chensheng, a park staff member.
