Electricity-powered cargo ship with super capacity embarks on inaugural voyage

(ECNS) -- Chuan Lian-1, an electric cargo ship with the largest load capacity on the Yangtze River, made its maiden voyage in Nanjing on Tuesday.

The ship was upgraded from a fuel oil-powered 3,000-DWT cargo ship. Taking electricity as the only power source, the ship has achieved zero emission, less noise, and no pollution.

Equipped with two LFP batteries, each with a capacity of about 2200 kWh, it can sail for more than 120 kilometers with a steady load.
