(ECNS) -- The "brain" for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the Telecom Technology Operations Center (TTOC), was put into operation on Monday in Beijing.

It provides communication support for the upcoming event, including telephone and cell phone coverage, along with 5G network services.

As the sports events will be held in different locations, the TTOC could provide cutting-edge technology to ensure timely communication between those locations to keep everyone updated. The TTOC also provides system maintenance for venues via remote technology. If the network equipment in a venue were to break, experts could conduct repairs by giving instructions to on-site technicians hundreds of kilometers away.

Seventy-eight experts specializing in different fields will be drafted to the center to guarantee 24-hour technical support on cross-field and international services.

Most of the venues will be covered by 5G. Staff at the center said this will giveaudiences a better viewing experience. The 5G networks in these venues could provide a maximum video upload speed of 500 megabytes per second and a maximum download rate of 1.5 gigabytes per second.

With these advanced technologies, the TTOC is ready for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
