(ECNS) -- Students from Altay in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region could immerse themselves in equestrian sports this winter.

As an indoor racecourse in suburban Altay, the racecourse has enjoyed huge popularity since its opening this winter.

Unaffected by seasons and space, the indoor racecourse allows students to take training courses throughout the year.

The 1,500 square meter-indoor racecourse could accommodate 30 students training simultaneously.

A total of 200 students can take the training classes each day and about 18,000 students can enroll in the equestrian classes every one-and-a-half years.

The horse-raising history of Altay city in Xinjiang can be traced back over a long period.

Some imported horses from countries like Poland and Hungary provide a better equestrian experience for students.

Apart from the improvement in physical and mental health, Altay students with equestrian potential will have the chance to get professional training at equestrian clubs.

About 8,500 equestrian classes have been opened so far since the city launched the equestrian program in 2019.
