China receives data from newly-launched remote-sensing satellite

(ECNS) -- China's remote-sensing ground stations received the first 159 gigabytes of data from the newly-launched remote-sensing satellite Ziyuan I-06 on Monday.

These remote-sensing ground stations are affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The satellite was launched Sunday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province, which is part of the country's plan to develop its national civil space infrastructure.

The academy's Miyun Ground Station in Beijing traced and received data at 10:37 a.m. and 12:18 p.m. (Beijing Time), respectively.

This is the first time that China's remote-sensing ground stations have received observation data from Ziyuan I-06.

The new satellite will join its predecessor Ziyuan-I 02D launched in September 2019,

It will provide data for the country's natural disaster prevention, environmental survey, urban planning and more.

In 2021, CAS ground stations across the country have completed the satellite data reception from five land observing satellites for scientific researches.
