(ECNS) -- Kunlong, China's independently developed AG600 large amphibious aircraft, performed its first airshow flight at the 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province on Tuesday. It presented aerial water-dropping performance, displaying its firefighting capacities.

Nine tons of water loaded on Kunlong accurately covered the target area.

The AG600 is designed to meet the needs of firefighting and marine rescue missions, as well as other critical emergency rescue operations.

The unique hull and fuselage design of the aircraft enables it to take off and land on water like a seaplane. It can also fly in inland rivers, lakes, reservoirs and surrounding waters.

The AG600 is expected to be capable of fighting fires by 2023, and put into use after obtaining certification in 2024.
