(ECNS) -- Porcelain restoration, or Juci, is an ancient craft which embeds metal staples into broken porcelain to make it complete.

Today, this traditional technique has added new elements in line with modern aesthetics.

The technique used by Li Mingbo, a juci craftsman from Qianxi, Hebei Province, has a history of more than 2,400 years.

After a dozen complicated processes, such as patching up gaps, fixing porcelain pieces, marking the position of nails, drilling holes, embedding nails, etc, one porcelain is repaired.

As an inheritor of the craft, Li plans to publish a book about it within five years to prevent it from being lost in the future.

He also wants to build a museum of Juci so that people can better understand this traditional Chinese culture.

Li said he would do his best to promote the restoration technique.
