(ECNS) -- The Shanghai Astronomy Museum, the world's largest planetarium in terms of building scale, began trial operation on Monday.

Covering an area of 58,600 square meters, it offers unprecedented museum experiences, backed by cutting-edge interactive technologies and visualizations.

Visitors are allowed to experience moon walk through VR technology and walk into the simulated Tianhe core module to learn about how astronauts live in the space.

The Chang'e-5 probe and Yutu-2 lunar rover models are also displayed in the planetarium.

There are more than 300 exhibits in the museum, among which about 85 percent are original and over 50 percent are interactive exhibits.

About 70 well-known meteorites and more than 120 pieces/set of cultural relics were collected here.

Original scrolls of famous scientists like Newton, Kepler and Galileo, as well as rare lunar and Martian meteorites are exhibited in this planetarium.
