(ECNS) -- Spanning over a valley, the Guozigou Bridge in northwest China's Xinjiang is an important section on the G30 Lianyungang-Khorgas Expressway.

It is also a landmark on the Sayram-Guozigou Expressway. The bridge is 700 meters long and 200 meters above the valley in Ili.

It is the first cable-stayed bridge in Xinjiang and the first bridge of its kind in China, using steel truss girders with double towers and double cable planes.

Guozigou serves as a natural traffic fortress in Ili, linking the north to Sayram Lake and the south to the Ili River Valley.

The Guozigou Bridge connects Lianyungang in the east and the Khorgas Port in the west. The bridge enables local people to commute to Urumqi at any time of day.
