(ECNS) -- A China-made 86,000 cubic meter Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) vessel was officially named "GAS VENUS" on Sunday.

It is the first ship in the world to use an axle-hung shaft generator and liquefied petroleum gas as fuel.

The ship measures 230 meters in length, 36.6 meters in width, 12 meters in scantling draft, and 22.2 meters in depth.

The ship is the third generation VLGC built by China's Jiangnan Shipyard.

It marks a new step in Jiangnan Shipyard's building of a global LPG ship construction center.
