(ECNS) -- Shibaozhai, known as "the Pearl on Yangtze River", is a rocky and craggy hill with a pagoda built on it in the Yangtze River in Zhong County, Chongqing.

Combining mountain and water scenery with ancient architecture, the Shibaozhai landscape resembles a giant bonsai hung over the river and has attracted many tourists.

The Shibaozhai Pagoda was built during the Wanli Reigns (1573-1620) of the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644) and overhauled in the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912) respectively.

As a major historical and cultural site protected at national level in China, it is one of the 30 best new Three Gorges tourist resorts.

The pagoda features 12 levels in total, with a height of 56 meters, entirely built of wood without a single nail used.

It is the largest and highest existing crossing bracket type wooden structure in China.
