Basketball boy in apron: life is diverse when you have a dream

(ECNS)--A heatedly discussed video clip shows a young man wearing a red apron practicing basketball in front of a grocery store.

Twenty-year-old Shi Xuenian, the video's protagonist, was born in a poor family in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province.

A 15-yuan (about $2) basketball from his father has sparked his sports dream during childhood.

He learned how to dribble from TV. What inspired him most is Kobe Bryant's saying,
"Do you know what Los Angeles looks like at 4 o'clock in the morning?"

He was admitted into a university majoring in sports in 2018, with the highest scores.

It seems that his 5.3ft height is a drawback on the playground, but he believes this is an advantage.

I think life is diverse when you have a dream, Shi said.
