A visit to Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic speed skating venue

(ECNS) -- The National Speed Skating Hall for Beijing 2022 has finished ice-making trials on the speed skating track, marking the venue's readiness for test events.

Also known as the "Ice Ribbon", the venue will host the speed skating competitions offering 14 gold medals.

It's the only newly-built competition venue for ice events in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling ice-making technology has been adopted with the least toxic and most environmentally friendly natural refrigerants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Temperature control on the ice is also important for athletes to perform at their best.

Zoning temperature control keeps the temperature difference very small, ensuring the newly made ice smooth.
