(ECNS) -- The Shenhai Yihao (Deep-sea No. 1) energy station, the world's first 100,000-ton deep-water semi submersible production and storage platform, was delivered in Yantai on Thursday.

The 120-meter station is independently developed and constructed by China.

It weighs more than 50,000 tons and has a maximum surface displacement of 110,000 tons.

It is expected to enter operation in June to develop Lingshui 17-2 gas field, China's first 1,500-meter deep-water self-operated atmospheric field.

Lingshui 17-2 gas field is to supply 3 billion cubic meters of deep-sea natural gas to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Hainan every year.

It will meet one fourth of local gas demand in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
