(ECNS) -- Shijiazhuang and Xingtai -- two cities in North China's Hebei Province -- have reported 265 locally transmitted cases COVID-19 cases since the beginning of 2021.

Supported by BGI Group, the Fire Eye Laboratory was put into operation in Shijiazhuang on Friday.

The white, tent-like inflatable facilities consist of 12 normal air domes and three negative pressure solid air domes.

Shijiazhuang BGI testing laboratory and two-car Fire Eye laboratory were also put in place.

"The air dome Fire Eye Laboratory is made of PVC that performs excellently in frame retardance, abrasion resistance, and stability. This type of lab meets the air tightness standard for adapting relative technology to process material. Also, we separated different zones for medical workers, materials, and trash when we designed the lab," said Chen Wurong, director of Delivery Center and Production Support, BGI Group.

The 12 air domes mainly have three functions: sampling, extracting, and amplifying. One group includes three different functions, plus auto-turntable and auto-nucleic acid extraction equipment.

Our testing capacity has reached 100,000 samples per day. We can enhance this capacity to 1,000,000 daily samples when mixing ten samples to one, Chen said.
