(ECNS)-- With its water level on the rise, Qinghai Lake, China's largest saltwater body, has expanded by 319-square-kilometers in the past 15 years, returning to its 1960s dimensions.

Qinghai Lake's climate has also adjusted from arid to warm and wet, with increasing precipitation.

Rising water levels have inundated wharfs and damaged various tourist facilities.

With the road to Bird Island completely submerged, the peninsula has been transformed into an isolated island.

Though these changes have affected local tourism, the wetland area and biodiversity have increased, local management authorities stated.
