China's AG600 amphibious aircraft completes maiden flight over sea

(ECNS)-- China-developed large amphibious aircraft AG600, codenamed Kunlong, succeeded in its maiden sea-based test flight in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province on July 26.

The AG600, the world's largest amphibious plane, will be put into use in the national emergency rescue and disaster relief systems.

The plane is 37-meter-long, with a wingspan of 38.8 meters, nearly as large as Boeing 737.

It can contain 12 tons of water in maximum and extinguish a fire area of over 4,000 sqm,

as well as rescue 50 people at most during a maritime emergency rescue.
