Considered a crucial link on the Belt and Road, Gwadar Port in southern Pakistan features prominently in China and Pakistan Economic Corridor plan. Following the completion of phase II, Gwadar will have 13 berths and be capable of holding a 200,000 dead-weight-ton of vessel. The Strait of Malacha provides China with the shortest maritime access to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Approximately 80% of its energy imports from the Middle East uses this channel.
