In coordination with the Social Welfare Department, social worker teams will also provide emotional support to those affected.

The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals said it will allocate HK$3 million for urgent assistance and use its Funeral Fund to provide free funeral services for the families of the dead.

The Hong Kong Red Cross deployed emergency service and first-aid teams, along with volunteers, to government-run temporary shelters and assistance stations to provide support and medical care.

A Hong Kong government spokesperson said Thursday that all departments are working to extinguish the fire, rescue trapped residents, and provide support to victims’ families and affected residents. It was added that the government will conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
