(ECNS) -- Wuhan University, famous for its spectacular Spring cherry blossoms, will live-stream flowers in bloom as the novel coronavirus keeps nature lovers indoors.

The live-stream will last about 10 days, the university announced on its website on Thursday, adding it would remain closed to aid effective containment of the virus.

With approximately 1,000 cherry trees, Wuhan University used to attract millions of visitors during the blooming period from late March to early April.

As the capital of Hubei Province and epicenter of the outbreak, Wuhan has seen a sharp drop in infections from hundreds per day to eight on Wednesday.

The city went into a lockdown on Jan. 23 for epidemic control purposes.
