The government of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region said it has planned to help over 2.7 million rural residents find jobs in 2020.

Measures such as skills training, integrated development of agriculture and other industries and partnerships with private companies will be taken to create more jobs, according to the regional human resources and social security department.

Surplus rural labor, veterans, people with lower education levels, laid-off workers and the disabled will be prioritized in skills training.

In addition, the regional government said it will help 20,000 people from poverty-stricken households in underdeveloped southern Xinjiang areas to get rid of poverty through employment.

Last year, over 2.87 million jobs were created for rural residents.
