(ECNS) - All those in close contact with two pneumonic plague patients were released from medical quarantine by 8 a.m. on Thursday, said Beijing Municipal Health Commission.

By Nov. 18, a total of 42 people who had close contact with the patients, who hail from north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, were removed from medical observation in Beijing. From Nov. 19 to 21, another four were reported free of symptoms and released from quarantine, suggesting all close contacts have been removed from medical observation.

The two patients are still receiving treatment as experts hold rounds of consultation, said the commission.

No new pneumonic plague cases were reported by Saturday, according to Inner Mongolia Health Commission.

The bubonic plague patient from Xiliin Gol League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is still in isolation and receiving treatment in the hospital. Of the 28 close contacts, eight people have been released while 20 are still under medical observation.
