Beijing implements 3 new measures to attract global talent

(ECNS) - Beijing has implemented three more measures to attract foreign talent to work, invest or start businesses in the capital city of China after implementing nine earlier measures.

In 2016, the city took the lead in piloting nine of 12 measures introduced by the National Immigration Administration, offering policy incentives to woo foreign technical and managerial talent, according to the Public Security Bureau of Beijing.

From August 1, the bureau will implement the remaining three measures. Top-calibre foreign talent working at key universities, research institutes and famous companies can also start businesses using their own time with the agreement of their employers and registration at the bureau.

Foreign students can apply for internship visas valid for one year if they get an offer from famous domestic companies or public institutions. Immigration service centers will be established in areas with a high concentration of foreigners, who will also benefit from new exchange platforms.

Since 2016, Beijing has issued 20,000 visas and residence permits to foreign entrepreneurs, investors, and technical and managerial professionals. It also handled more than 1,000 permanent residency permits.
