Two female giant pandas moved to their new home in the city of Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, on Tuesday.

The two pandas, Chu Xin and Mu Yun, departed from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Tuesday morning and arrived at the wildlife rescue and breeding center in Changchun in the afternoon.

The pandas were born in Sichuan in 2016.

This is the first time that adolescent pandas will be raised in a high-altitude habitat in China.

Two adult pandas were sent to the center in 2015 and returned to Sichuan this year.

"Raising adolescent pandas is more difficult than adult pandas. More patience and care is needed. We also need to pay more attention to their diet as they are growing up," said Wang Haixia, a breeder at the center.

The center hopes to accumulate experience in raising adolescent pandas in high-altitude and cold areas.

The pair will meet the public on Friday.
