An energy station providing refueling, hydrogenation, electrical charging and photovoltaic power generation services began operating on Tuesday in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

A cooperative project between Sinopec and Guangzhou Hengyun Enterprises Holdings, the station allows a driving range of 300 kilometers on a single seven-minute hydrogenation for buses, according to a driver surnamed Zhang.

The station is the first comprehensive energy service station with the most complete energy supply in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to sources at Sinopec.

It is currently equipped with two hydrogenation machines, which provide a daily hydrogenation capacity of 500 kilograms, enough to meet the demand of 60 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Serving hydrogen buses and logistics and sanitation vehicles, the station helps reduce carbon emissions by 2,500 tons per year, compared with traditional petroleum-based energy.

Sinopec and Guangzhou Hengyun will work closely to build 20 more of the stations in the years ahead in the Greater Bay Area.

"We will continue to deepen cooperation with local governments, promote new-energy businesses such as hydrogen, charging and photovoltaic, and provide cleaner, environmentally friendly and diverse energy supply services for car owners," said Chen Jingcheng, a senior executive with Sinopec Guangdong's joint venture management department.
