China urges Philippines to rein in irresponsible remarks by individual politicians: spokesperson

(ECNS) -- To improve and develop China-Philippines relations serves the interest of both sides, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Monday.

Mao made the remarks at a regular press conference when asked to comment on the Philippine Foreign Ministry's summoning of the Chinese ambassador over remarks he made last week.

"We firmly oppose certain Philippine individuals maliciously lashing out at China and hurting bilateral ties. The Philippine side should rein in such irresponsible behavior of those politicians," Mao said.
