A Chinese official has reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to bolstering Belt and Road cooperation with Islamabad by continuing to implement small-yet-smart projects in the South Asian country.

Luo Zhaohui, head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, said at an event in Pakistan's embassy in Beijing on Tuesday that pragmatic cooperation between China and Pakistan led by the agency has focused on agriculture, education, healthcare, water supply, poverty alleviation, and vocational education.

"We have kept enhancing the sharing of experience and the training of personnel," he said, explaining that China has trained more than 9,400 talents from various sectors for Pakistan.

During the event, Luo was conferred with the Hilal-e-Quaid-i-Azam civil award by Paksitan's Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.

The ambassador said Luo, who served as China's ambassador to Pakistan between 2006 and 2010, was a "great friend of Pakistan" who had always been at the forefront of supporting the nation's people and government.

The award, he said, represented recognition of Luo's outstanding contribution to China-Pakistan friendship.
